Actors Who Could Play Nathan Drake in ‘Uncharted’

Uncharted is undoubtedly one of the most well-loved game series throughout history and it has captivated the gaming world over the past decade. The release of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End in March 2016 certainly did not disappoint and it just left fans hungry for a long-delayed film adaptation. While the plan for a movie had been in development hell for the last three years, there have been a lot of buzz on who could play the protagonist Nathan Drake.

Nathan Drake has developed into a modern-day Indiana Jones (it was reported that the character’s likeness was developed from Harrison Ford‘s features) and his overall charisma made him a cut above the stereotypical heroes in video games nowadays. It should be noted that Mark Wahlberg had been attached to the Uncharted movie for a long time now, and this rumor has drawn in a lot of flak from fans.

So while the actual casting of Nathan Drake is yet to be announced, here are ExploreTalent’s top picks on who could play the sarcastic yet witty treasure hunter:

1. Chris Pratt

It is interesting that Hollywood actor Chris Pratt was already offered the role, but he turned it down for unknown reasons. The best guess here is because Pratt had already played similar characters in the past and that he probably did not want to be stuck doing the same thing all over again.

The roles in question was for the Marvel movie Guardians of the Galaxy where he played a bounty hunter and a dinosaur behavioral specialist in Jurassic World that boasted similar personalities. Either way, many would agree that he is capable of embodying Nathan Drake perfectly, so here’s to hoping he would change his mind.

2. Scott Eastwood

Starring in a Taylor Swift video or a sappy Nicholas Sparks movie was clearly not enough to cement Scott Eastwood‘s star status. The young actor has potential, and he just needs to choose the right project to showcase what he’s got. He might even be a greater actor than his father! So the Uncharted movie will be an opportunity for him to do so.

Eastwood does have Nathan Drake’s looks, and his young age is perfect for a potential franchise. The role might as well go to him if he isn’t tied down to other films already. Eastwood has an unknown role in the DC movie Suicide Squad and is rumored to portray the young Han Solo for another Star Wars prequel Disney has in mind.

3. Jensen Ackles

Jensen Ackles has been on CW’s Supernatural for the past 11 years, so it’s about time for this talented actor to make it to the big screen. He had been portraying the sarcastic yet likable Dean Winchester for a long period that it may be hard to imagine him doing something else. In fact, both Dean and Nathan do have similar personalities, making it a no-brainer for Ackles to accept the part should he be offered the role.

4. Chris Evans

Chris Evans has fallen into the Hollywood curse where audiences have identified him as Captain America, making other roles seem unrealistic. But Evans is a versatile actor and he has proven that through the post-apocalyptic drama Snowpiercer.

Evans is young, charismatic, and can easily embody Nathan Drake’s cheekiness as well as the other actors on this list. The only problem is that after playing such an iconic superhero, audiences may not be able to connect to him as a normal person. But other than that, he is more than capable of doing the whole Uncharted movie justice.

5. Oscar Isaac

Oscar Isaac may be shorter in stature, and his facial features may not mirror that of Nathan Drake compared to the actors mentioned here. But Isaac is a character actor and is capable of transforming into different roles in an instant. No two performances done by him are ever the same. Good examples are his two recent blockbuster releases X-Men and Star Wars. In X-Men:Apocalypse, he plays the titular villain, and in Star Wars, he is the charismatic pilot from the resistance group. These are two very different roles played by one extremely talented actor, and it is enough to give anyone a good reason to have Isaac topbill another Hollywood franchise.
