The UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, DAVIS Department of Theatre and Dance recruits each year for two one-quarter Visiting Professor positions with professionally competitive salary to fill the Granada Artist-in-Residence posts. The Department seeks a professional theatre or dance practitioner primarily to direct and/or choreograph, or otherwise to work on a production with graduates (from our mid-career MFA program), undergraduates in Theatre and Dance, and others from the University community. Applications are encouraged from directors, dancers, actors, choreographers, designers, and playwrights, with a reputation for working in any area of classical, contemporary and experimental performance. One production a year focuses on mainstream and traditional standards, values and ways of working. A second yearly production focuses on professional standards, combined with more exploratory and innovative performance. The position is best viewed as an opportunity to engage with a vibrant culture of theater and dance, committed to social and imaginative interventions through performance, that will encourage the applicant to reflect on their own or other's work, and contribute to new ways of producing stage work. Applicants are sought nationally and internationally, and should be able to work and teach in the English language. in the
