Hairspray is a comedy about the rise of the rock music industry in Baltimore in the early 1960’s. It also has a serious message about acceptance as it traces the roots of the civil rights movement. As such, Hairspray offers great opportunities for a strong multicultural cast of actors, singers and dancers.

For a song, we would like you to select a number that reflects the 60’s pop/rock sound found in Hairspray. There are a number of musicals with a similar sound. We would also accept for this particular show a pop number from the 1960’s that would give you a chance to show off your “pop music” voice.
