Looking for 1 guitarist, electric and stand-up bassist, drummer and keyboardist.
Rockabilly guitarist with some good contacts looking to form a rockabilly band, a la Brian Setzer Orchestra/Stray Cats, Albert Lee, etc.
So far there is just me. I have been in other bands and have made a lot of contacts over 20 years of playing and have found that this is the style that best suits me. I'm not one to stand around with a guitar and just shred like a no-talent-having stoner who thinks he's Eddie Van Halen, and I'm not much of a hard rock player. Jazz and blues are great as is blues rock and maybe we could work those styles in here and there, somehow, but my personal concentration is Rockabilly.
What I am looking for is a few musicians (1 guitarist capable of doing either rhythm or lead but understands this is mostly a rhythm position), a bassist (electric or stand-up, no matter), a drummer and possibly/maybe/might be a good keyboardist. Everyone must understand the rockabilly style and the sound and be dedicated to playing that style ("Boom Chuck", "Travis Picking", standard finger-picking style, regular picking styles, bass slapping and the overall rhythm and meter of Rockabilly for all instruments, etc). Eventually I would like to build an entire big-band orchestra in the style with some backup singers. One thing we need incredibly much, and this might be a good job for the rhythm guitarist, is LEAD VOCALS. I can play my ass off but my singing days are nearly over I think.
The one thing I have to offer is a strong manager who can actually pick up the phone and get us gigs (Clubs, Dance Halls, County Fairs, other venues, all of them paid). He has been my manager for 15 years now in various bands and gigs I've done and I can tell you, he can get us venues and gigs. None of us are going to get famous, probably, but in the region and in the genre we can become well-known. This guy can get us in doors.
What I need are fellow musicians who are into the style, not just a failed rocker or jazz player looking for some way to make a buck and pick up the tunes. This is a style that must be "already" learned and well-familiar with or it will sound like shit. My primary goal is to get together, get used to each other and get used to playing together, take a few weeks to learn the standards and some of the Stray Cats/Brian Setzer, Albert Lee, Stevie Ray Vaughan stuff and learn some new stuff that I have written, cut a CD (I have the space and the equipment without the need to rent a studio by the hour), and get the show on the road. The way to make the money and get out there is to play a lot of shows and various venues.
Female musicians are especially encouraged to apply because it seems like women in these bands draw the crowds and are unusually dedicated to what we are doing. That is just my experience. But all are welcome to apply if you are a rockabilly player. I will need to see what bands you have been in, youtube videos, reels, etc. I will need your contact info and a headshot/handout pic. I need to see a resume of gigs, bands, etc. References will be required, meaning people we can actually talk to on the phone.
Must be willing, by contract, to play Gretsch guitars, including the bass. A contract is in place for that, based on my own history. Drum and keyboards are open as no contracts exist. Yes, that means there is a guitar sponsorship which contributes income to the overall band. I play the Gretsch 6120 Brian Setzer Signature guitar and a White Falcon. Any 6120 will do and management will provide it once settled in the band. The Super Jet is another Gretsch guitar under the agreement, also the Black Falcon. The Gretsch Corvette could be used in limited capacity. You get to choose if you are the rhythm guitarist and bassist. Keyboards and drums to be discussed.
I am a lead guitarist in the style with some experience in the industry and will be part of the management group as well as at the auditions. Everyone will be expected to contribute vocally at some time or other, in some capacity, unless you just cannot, period. If you are a hellfire musician instead, then we can overlook the vocals thing. But we will need more than one vocalist in the band, to be sure. Rhythm guitarist please be ready to play some leads at times and also at the auditions. Each position may require more than one audition. Only one person per position will be chosen and may require several auditions to get to that point. Once chosen a contract will be offered. This will not be advertised any other place until after Jan 1, so you have time to get on board. Auditions will probably be sometime in January to begin with.
The band DOES NOT have a record deal, but that can be worked on. We do have some fairly instant gigs available when we get up and running, and more to follow. Also, management is trying to come up with a snazzy name for the band. It's that new of an enterprise. Maybe you have some good ideas to share.
Please respond with the info requested above IF you match the requirements and are a rockabilly guy/girl. All ages are welcome and of course all ethnicities as well. We are going to go slow to get this right and then we are going to tear the place up.

Reply with resume, reels, youtube videos, dirty jokes, etc, headshots/pics and references as stated above, to . Thanks.
